Redact PDF

Permanently black out personal details in a PDF — PAN, Aadhaar, phone numbers, emails, account numbers or anything you mark. The hidden text is really removed, not just covered.

Frequently asked questions

Is the text really removed, or just covered with a black box?

Really removed. Every page that has a redaction is rebuilt as a picture with the black boxes burned in, so the original text, fonts and hidden layers of that page are not in the new file. Copying, searching or "removing the box" in another app cannot bring it back. Pages without redactions are copied unchanged.

How do I hide my Aadhaar or PAN number before sharing a PDF?

Open the PDF, tap "Aadhaar" or "PAN" under Find & redact — every match is marked in black. Check each page, drag extra boxes over photos or signatures if needed, and press Redact and save. For Aadhaar, UIDAI also allows sharing a masked Aadhaar that shows only the last 4 digits.

Why can I no longer select text on some pages?

Those are the pages you redacted. Turning them into images is what guarantees the hidden words are gone. Pick 300 DPI if you need to print them sharply.

Is Redact PDF free?

Yes. Redact PDF is free to use. You get 3 free conversions a day without an account, and unlimited use when you sign in with Google.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent to our servers.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. PixKaro works in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac.
